The Face Tonic Skin Tips: Protect your Children from the Sun
Its critical you use SPF on your child, and reapply every 2 hours especially when they are in the sun, more frequently if they are in the water. Apply 30 mins before going out and immediately before you leave the house.
They need to be covered in SPF when its overcast too, did you know Up to 80 percent of UV rays penetrate clouds and reflect off sand, water, snow, and even concrete
Babies 6 months and under are advised to stay out of the sun altogether, rather than put SPF on their sensitive skin.
Children need to be in the shade as much as possible, between 11-3 particularly.
Kids swim suits and UV hats are so readily available now, select a UV protection suit over bikini / trunks, the more covered they are, the better.
Its very important you don’t let your child burn, if you need to take them inside, out of the sun, then do so. At least five blistering sunburns before age 20 raise the risk of melanoma by 80 percent,
80% of our sun damage is in the first 7 years of life.
Sunglasses are great for kids too, the skin around the eyes is so delicate.
Give your Childs nursery their SPF and insist it must be replied during the day, this is very standard practice now and shouldn’t be an issue, but do check the policy. If your child is school age, you need to teach them how to apply it themselves as the school won’t do this for them. reapplying at break times is a good way to make sure they are topping up throughout the day. They will thank you for this late in life!
